Oraculum I. Creative principle, the sky – Le Chaos

The work was part of the work carried out during the residence of BAR project (wwwbarproject.net) in 2018 and responds to the abstraction of the query to two oracles, the book of changes or I Ching, and the tarot known as Etteilla.

The first to be consulted was the I Ching, which revealed the hexagram 1: “Creative Principle, the sky”. Departing from this, the first objects representing the hexagram were elaborated.

Then, I made a single-card run between the 22 major arcana of the Etteilla tarot -which came to my hands under special circumstances in dels Encants market, in Barcelona-. Created by Jean Baptiste-Alliette, this is known as the first tarot to be popularized for divinatory purposes by the end of the 19th century. The letter unveiled was “Le Chaos”, the number 1, which begins the narrative of the universe creation. From this the other pieces were produced.

The celestial and yellow colors symbolize the plane of the sensible and the plane of the intelligible, respectively. Combined on the geometric forms represent the presence of these planes in the physical and material reality.

Based on the understanding of the human being as a tiny replica of the macrocosmic universe, work is the beginning of a rewriting of outer space in the inner order, transferred to the three-dimensional order.

Oraculum I. Lo creador, el cielo – Le Chaos

El trabajo fue parte de la obra efectuada durante la residencia de BAR project (wwwbarproject.net) en 2018 y responde a la abstracción de la consulta a dos oráculos, el libro de las mutaciones o I·Ching y el tarot conocido como Etteilla.

El primero en ser consultado fue el I·Ching, oráculo que reveló el hexagrama 1: “Lo Creador, el cielo”. A partir de éste se desplegaron los primeros objetos que representan el hexagrama.

Después, realicé una tirada de una carta única entre los 22 arcanos mayores del tarot Etteilla -el cual llegó a mis manos en circunstancias especiales en el mercado dels Encants, en Barcelona-. Creado por Jean Baptiste-Alliette, fue el primer tarot en popularizarse con fines adivinatorios a finales del s. XVIII.

La carta develada fue Le Chaos, la carta número 1, que comienza la narración de la creación. A partir de ésta se despliegan los demás objetos expuestos.

Los colores celeste y amarillo simbolizan el plano de lo sensible y el plano de la inteligible, respectivamente. Combinados sobre las formas geométricas representan la presencia de estos planos en el plano físico y material.

En base al principio que entiende al ser humano como una réplica ínfima del universo macrocósmico, el trabajo es el comienzo de una reescritura del espacio exterior en el orden interior, trasladado al orden tridimensional.
