Reading for Oneself

In my work there is a sequence of interests about the inner universe of an individual and hidden issues in relation to this and other universes. A few years ago I started to make a series of drawings that represent these universes with people with “things in the head “, from this series emerged Reading for oneself.

In a synoptic way I began this series, which has as its principle to portray an individual back or profile, without revealing his face. The characters that make up this series show the body language of a person contemplating a work of art.

At the same time, these characters turn their backs on us, hiding their faces from the viewer, turning the viewer an observer of the piece, like an echo.

In a way, those who make up this unlimited series will be always anonymous, obtaining in this way the possibility of becoming anyone that the viewer recognizes. At the same time there is the possibility that the character is an insurgent on the point of acting.

The series represents the moment in which a person finds himself in front  the mirror of his baggage, understanding the work before him, is the moment he reads for himself.

Leyendo para sí

En mi obra existe una secuencia de intereses sobre el universo interior de un individuo  y cuestiones ocultas en relación con éste y otros universos. Hace unos años comencé a realizar una serie de dibujos que representaban estos universos interiores mediante individuos con “cosas en la cabeza”, de esta serie fue que se desprendió la serie Leyendo para sí .

De manera sinóptica comencé dicha serie, la cual tiene como principio retratar a un individuo de espaldas o de perfil, sin develar su rostro. Los personajes que componen esta serie muestran el lenguaje corporal de una persona que contempla una obra de arte.

Al mismo tiempo dichos personajes nos dan la espalda, ocultando su rostro siempre del espectador, y a su vez el espectador de dichas piezas se convierte en un observador de la pieza, es decir, un eco.

De cierta forma quienes componen la serie ilimitada de personas serán siempre anónimas, obteniendo de esta forma la posibilidad de convertirse en cualquiera que el espectador reconozca. A su vez existe la posibilidad de que sea un insurgente, un insurrecto, a punto de actuar.

La serie representa el momento lúcido en que una persona se encuentra ante el espejo de su bagaje y comprensión de la obra que tiene ante sí, es el momento en que lee para sí mismo.
